Visit of President Barack Obama in Ireland

Dear member of African community in Ireland,

As we are all await for a great visit of President Obama in Ireland (on May 22or 23rd), African Students Asssociation of Ireland( ASAI) would like invite all leaders and members of African community in Ireland to uptodate each other on the preparation of our community to receive our great brother here in Ireland. The meeting will be an opportunity to establish our official representation in this occassion, and also to draw strategy to prepare a big celebration from our community. African Students Association and few members of our community who decided to set up this meeting would like that among other things at the meeting we discuss the following draft agenda.

General theme: How can we meet Obama during his visit to Ireland as Africa Community in Ireland?
Objectives:
1. To be part of the official visit and Celebration
2. To present our official message to him. a) as Africans living in Ireland. b) As Africans 1. who want change in Africa, 2. Who want relationship with the Obama administration and African Americans to learn from them and them to learn from us, 3. As African who want engagement with him for global agenda Obama has.
3. In our official message to push Africa Agenda to Obama- will touch on
Governance: Democracy, Human Right, Security, Peace
Economic issue: Development, Trade
Social issue: global health, education, culture
How as America Diaspora and Africans can work together
Media discrimination of Africa

4.To draw Modalities of working together on the above issues and any other issue that will be propose.


The meeting will take place on Saturday, 14th May 2011. At Methodist Church Hall, Lower Abbey Street. ( at the former office of Africa Centre). From 12.noon to 2pm or earlier.
