ASAI vision and mission is to build an active and vibrant African and African descent student and Alumni community in Ireland- A community that shares information, help each other and contributes to ideas and activities for socio-economic development of Ireland, Africa and the global- and a movement that engages with challenges and ideas of transforming Africa in this century- and a companionship that celebrates achievements of Africans and African values, history and culture- past and present
The aims and objectives of the Association are:
1. ASAI shall bring together African, African decent students, any students, Alumni and individuals interested in Africa and to work with African students in Ireland to promote friendship, goodwill, solidarity and ideas in a new movement to better Africa, Ireland and the world.
2. ASAI shall welcome and promote African and African descent students educational aspirations in conjunction with all students in Ireland. The Association will support African students by way of liasing with and linking students to the support structures/services provided by non and governmental institutions and organizations in Ireland
3. ASAI shall strengthen the participation of African and African decent students studying in Ireland in students’ activities in colleges through existing societies and Africa Societies that the association will set up in colleges in Ireland.
4. ASAI through the Africa societies in college, and Alumni Society shall encourage intercultural interaction, presentation of the rich heritage of African, values, culture, civilization and history, and discussion and debates on various issues on and about Africa. With its members ASAI shall be resource point of information on African countries.
5. ASAI shall organize and support students and Alumni to take proactive role of leadership; and make their contribution in the current and future generation of social, political, cultural and economic programs for African countries, Ireland and the world.
6. ASAI shall create a strong link between the movement and other student and non student like minded organizations in Ireland, Africa and world wide to promote ASAI key objective of spearheading Africa social, political and economic transformation in the first half of this century-a cry of many Africans now who realize 50 years of independence of their countries have passed without much progress in getting democracy, securing peace and prosperity for all.
7. ASAI shall establish Alumni Society of all its former members and any African who studied in Ireland interested to be a member of society. The society shall work as a network of Alumni to support ASAI and work with students to fulfil the objectives of ASAI and the spirit of its charter.
