WELCOME TO ASAI BLOG

Welcome to the African Students Association of Ireland (ASAI) blog.  ASAI is a dynamic  community of students and alumni that evolved as a result of the deliberations of the African Students Conference held in Dublin, Ireland (1st May, 2010), to offer a forum for students and graduates associated with Africa or simply interested  in Africa Affairs. This blog provides information about the objectives of ASAI, the issues we advocate and the current activities of our members as part of an active African student and alumni community in Ireland. We welcome any student and alumni associated with Africa or interested in African affairs to become a member and encourage you to take an active part in helping to build a vibrant Africa student and alumni community here in Ireland.

MARCH 29th, 2014

2ND  IRELAND AFRICAN STUDENTS CONFERENCE
The  2nd All Ireland African   Students conference will take place on the 29th of March 2014 at Dublin Institute of Technology Aungier Street, Dublin 2.

Our first all  Ireland African Students Conference (AIASC) took place in 2010 the main theme of conference then was formation of African students association of Ireland( ASAI). we formed the association and since the association has grown from strength to strength. The association got an interim  national leadership and has set up 12 Africa societies and works in partnership with two Afro-carribean societies existing in two universities in Ireland.

The theme of this year's conference  is, How can the current generation of African students shape and give the leadership  needed to change Africa for better in this century.
We shall also share ideas and  experience of consolidating Africa societies and making them a key students' organization in our colleges, how to think big and do bigger things and sustaining the work of the society fundingwise. Advice is also welcome for the students Association of Ireland(ASAI) which for the first time will have elected students leaders, as the current leadership was operating as interim team to create and build the association. The leadership will retire to to the  alumni part of the association.

In the conference we shall elect African Students Association of Ireland leaders, President, Secretary, Treasurer, Events and Liason Officer and four committee members. If you would to contest for any of the positions send your application to the leadership of the Africa society in your college, with one page of reasons why you will be best suited to take up a position of leadership of ASAI.
