PRESS RELEASE
APPEAL FOR SOLIDARITY WITH CHILDREN, MOTHERS, MEN AND WOMEN CAUGHT IN FAMINE SITUATION IN THE HORN OF AFRICA

We the coordinating committee of African Students Association in Ireland (ASAI) are gravely concerned about the unfolding human catastrophe in the Horn of Africa (Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia) caused by the drought situation in the region. As we are putting a pen to paper for this appeal the drought situation facing more than 12 million people in the region has turned into famine in some areas as declared by the United Nations recently- 20th of July, 2011. This means there is very little of food to live on in these areas and already a number of adults and children are dying from lack of food and nutrition.
Unfortunately this happening in a situation of economic crisis, but also following on from other major crises, Haiti, Pakistan, Japan. Yet as we know, and this why we reappeal to public in Ireland(Irish, Africans and people from all nations living here) to help with whatever they can offer now, that any assistance goes a long way to help people in crisis and helpless situation.
On behalf of children, mothers, men and women, young and old who are striving right now just to see another day, we would like to appeal to public in Ireland to extend further their human hand by sending donations to organizations working to help people in the Horn of Africa. Among them from Ireland, Concern (www. concern.net), ChristianAid (www. Chrisitianaid.ie), Goal (www.goal.ie), Trocaire (www.trocaire.org), Worldvision( www.worldvision.ie), and all churches and mosques receive donations. One can walk in and give.
Thanks very much in advance for support and spreading this appeal on behalf of those who are in crisis.
Kind regards,
David Nyaluke,
