PRESS RELEASE

WE SALUTE THE LATE PROFESSOR WANGARI MAATHAI, NOBEL PRIZE WINNER 2004
Dublin, Ireland, September 27th , 2011.

We, the members Africa Students Association in Ireland (ASAI) have received with great sadness the passing away of Prof. Wangari Maathai. We join her family, Kenyans, fellow Africans and all people who mourn the passing of this great African. Her demise leaves us all and the world at loss of one of the great leaders of our time.

Prof. Wangari courage and example was an inspiration to us all. She charted perhaps the most important cause for the current generation and future generations of Africa- democracy and environment. While many of us when it is Africa we care most about democracy and development, professor Wangari highlighted environment conservation, which is the most important thing for our livelihood and future.

As a teacher Prof. Wangari has done a very good job to enlighten us all , this is her challenge and legacy to us.

We salute prof. Wangari Maathai and may her soul rest in eternal peace.

Kind regards,

David Nyaluke,
