Like all of us you planned and you were working hard, come one day to fulfil your dreams. In that hope and dream you journeyed to these shores Ireland, settled in Dublin and everyday with courage you worked towards that, going to college and doing other jobs to upkeep and uplift yourself. We join her family, Kenyans, fellow Africans and all people who mourn the passing of this great African. Her demise leaves us all and the world at loss of one of the great leaders of our time.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;Prof.  Wangari courage and example was an inspiration to us all. She charted perhaps the most important cause for the current generation and future generations of Africa- democracy and environment. While many of us when it is Africa we care most about democracy and  development, professor Wangari highlighted   environment conservation, which is the most important thing for our livelihood and future.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;As a teacher  Prof.  Wangari has done a very good job to enlighten us all , this is her challenge and legacy to  us.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;We salute  prof. The PUB QUIZ will take place next week  on wednesday, 7th of September, 2011 at the Mssrs. Maguire Pub, in Burgh Quay, Dublin 2. It is a pub next to Q-bar. It will start at 7:30pm  The entry for each person is 5 euro, and participants can form a team of minimum 4 and maximum 10 people.  The first three winning teams will receive miscellenious prizes ranging from items from Africa,  from here,  to dinners in African, and Indian and other restaurants. You can book as team or  simply as an individual.  Questions will be general ones on variety of interesting subjects.  There will be also a round or two of  questions about Africa.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;You all cordially welcome to participate in event. As we are putting a pen to paper for this appeal the drought situation facing more than 12 million people in the region has turned into famine in some areas as declared by the United Nations recently- 20th of July, 2011. This means there is very little of food to live on in these areas and already a number of adults and children are dying from lack of food and nutrition.  &lt;br /&gt;Unfortunately this happening in a situation of economic crisis, but also following on from other major crises, Haiti, Pakistan, Japan. Yet as we know,  and this why we reappeal to public in Ireland(Irish, Africans and people from all nations living here)  to help with whatever  they can offer now,  that any assistance goes a long way to help people in crisis and helpless situation.&lt;br /&gt;On behalf of children, mothers, men and women, young and old who are striving right now just to see another day, we would like to appeal  to public in Ireland to extend further their human hand by sending  donations to organizations working to help people  in the Horn of Africa. To celebrate his coming the African Students Associations  of Ireland  and supporting members from the African Community and other new communities have prepared with the Irish cousin of President Obama Henry Healy   an evening of celebrations at the ancentral home of President Barack Obama in Moneygall village as a prelude and preparation for the president visit at the village. &lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;As places will be limited for every one to join the President,  the African students associations and Irish cousin of President Obama have found it important particularly for members of African community to have a unique point of celebration of Obama visit and leave a mark in this visit.  This celebration will take place on Friday 20th of May in Moneygall village from 3pm.  &lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;The places are limited to join the trip and  this festive evening  with cousin of Obama and  the people of village of Moneygall and many guests that have arrived  for the president visit as well as the local and international media. &lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;Members from African students, African community and other new communities in Dublin who are interested to join this celebration are invited to contact the organizers as soon as possible to submit their name and euro 12  fee for the transport to the event. The meeting will be an opportunity to establish our official representation in this occassion, and also to draw strategy to prepare a big celebration from our community. African Students Association and few members of our community who decided to set up this meeting would like that among other things at the meeting we discuss the following draft agenda.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;General theme:  How can we meet Obama during his visit to Ireland as Africa Community in Ireland?&lt;br /&gt;Objectives:&lt;br /&gt;1. ASAI shall bring together African, African decent students, any students, Alumni and   individuals interested in Africa and to work with African students in Ireland to promote friendship, goodwill, solidarity and ideas in a new movement to better Africa, Ireland and the world.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. ASAI shall welcome and promote African and African descent students educational aspirations in conjunction with all students in Ireland. The Association will support African students by way of liasing with and linking students to the support structures/services provided by non and governmental institutions and organizations in Ireland&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. ASAI shall strengthen the participation of African and African decent students studying in Ireland in students’ activities in colleges through existing societies and Africa Societies that the association will set up in colleges in Ireland.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4. ASAI through the Africa societies in college, and Alumni Society shall encourage intercultural interaction, presentation of the rich heritage of African, values, culture, civilization and history, and discussion and debates on various issues on and about Africa.  With its members ASAI shall be resource point of information on African countries.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;5. ASAI shall organize and support students and Alumni to take proactive role of leadership; and make their contribution in the current and future generation of social, political, cultural and economic programs for African countries, Ireland and the world.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;6.
